Is AI translation accurate enough for official proceedings?
For routine meetings, spf.io’s AI translates live speech in 100+ languages. For hearings where the exact wording matters, add professional interpreters or captioners. Spf.io combines “AI with a human touch,” so you choose the mix for each meeting.
Accuracy depends on audio quality and vocabulary, so you can tailor the AI to your agency. A custom glossary and Keyword Booster help with council members’ names, street names, departments, and agenda terms. A Do Not Translate list keeps city names, department titles, and legal phrases as written. You can also review and edit captions before releasing them to your audience, and your corrections can help the AI improve translations over time.
Can you provide human interpreters for hearings?
Yes. Our professional services include professional captioners and interpreters, remote operators, and event preparation with tech checks. You can use AI translation for routine meetings and add interpreters for the sessions that need them. Please contact us two weeks in advance to book a professional interpreter and captioner, or a remote operator for your event.
How does spf.io protect the agency's data?
Your agency stays in control of its content. We process your audio, transcripts, translations, and uploaded files on your behalf, and you decide which data we process and how long it is stored. If you close your account, we delete your data after six months, except data we must keep for legal compliance. We do not sell personal data.
Spf.io uses technical, physical, and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Our Acceptable Use Policy covers how accounts, API keys, and session links must be kept secure, and we review it at least annually. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact cs@spf.io.

What equipment do I need to use spf.io?
Here are the minimum technical equipment requirements to use spf.io:
- Processor: 1.6 GHz Dual-core CPU
- Memory: 4GB RAM / 4GB Free disk space
- Browser: Support for Google Chrome 80
- Operating System: Windows 10 or later, MacOS Mojave or later, or Chrome OS 90 or later
- Network: 1 Mbps download/upload Internet connection speed (when the network is in use during a live event). Test the venue’s internet with an internet speed test.
- Audio: Ability to receive audio input over USB. Learn more about the audio setup here.
These requirements apply to spf.io operators, interpreters, and other producer roles.
